Marta Lončar is a versatile soprano with a specialization in both, baroque and classical singing. She performs regularly as a soloist in baroque cantatas and oratorios. Recently she performed as soprano solo in Mass in B minor and Magnificat by J. S. Bach, Dixit Dominus by Vivaldi as “Filia” in oratorio Jephte by Carissimi and Matthäus-Passion by J. S. Bach. As a choir singer she is working with The Netherlands Radio Choir, Rotterdam Symphony Chorus, Laurens Collegium, Bachkoor Holland and Croatian Radiotelevision Choir.*

Originally from Croatia, she was singing with the Vocal Ensemble Antiphonus (2006-2014), performing wide range of the repertoire, from medieval to contemporary music. After finishing  music theory studies on Music Academy in Zagreb, Croatia, she taught music theory subjects in music schools. While studying music theory and later, while working, she was singing in choirs and also taking private singing lessons.

In 2017 she graduated baroque singing as well as classical singing in 2019, both from The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, The Netherlands. The most important project during her studies was, Mass in B minor by J. S. Bach on Juilliard, New York, where she performed as a choir member. As a soloist she performed roles such as “Dido” in a concert performance of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and “Poppea” in a semi-staged performance of Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, “Zweite Israelitin” in C. P. E. Bach’s oratorio Israeliten in der Wüste on the Festival Musica Sacra Maastricht, and songs by A. Diepenbrock in the small halls of Concertgebouw Amsterdam and TivoliVredenburg Utrecht.

 

As a choir singer she worked with many eminent conductors such as: Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Antonio Pappano, Lahav Shani, Jos van Veldhoven, Gijs Leenars, Peter Dijkstra, Wiecher Mandemaker, Tomislav Fačini.

As a soloist she worked with conductors such as: Peter van Heyghen, Niek Idelenburg, Hernàn Schvartman, JanJoost van Elburg and many others. 

 

Between 2013 and 2018 she participated in various masterclasses, such as Royal Conservatoire The Hague masterclasses with Jill Feldman, Peter Kooij, Michael Chance, Robin Blaze, Peter Te Nuyl,  Eva-Maria Westbroek, Nelly Miricioiu, masterclass of The Netherlands Bach Society with Margot Oitzinger, Sienagosto Masterclass with Lyne Dawson, Deborah York, Daniel Taylor, Paul Beier, Noorderkerk concerten masterclass with Marcel Reijans, Belgrade Baroque Academy Masterclass with Marijana Mijanović and Predrag Gosta, Masterclass of Händel Academy Karlsruhe with Agnès Mellon, Aestas Musica Masterclass in Varaždin with Catherine Denley and Mary Collins. 

While studying music theory on Music Academy Zagreb, Croatia, she learned singing in private lessons and also worked with choirs (Choir Ivan Goran Kovačić, Chamber choir Ivan Filipović, Cantores Sancti Marci, Collegium pro musica sacra) with which she gained experience in performing great compositions such as: IX Symphony by Beethoven, Requiem by Mozart, Verdi, Berlioz, Faurè and Duruflè, Mass in c minor by Mozart, Carmina burana by Orff, II Symphony by Mahler, Carmen by Bizet. In this period she worked with conductors such as: Luka Vukšić, Saša Britvić, Vladimir Kranjčević, Jasenka Ostojić, Alun Francis, Nicola Luisotti, Ivan Repušić and Tomislav Fačini.
